A propane tank exploded and ignited a fire Friday afternoon at the Greenwich Country Day School, but no one was hurt, fire officials reported.
The fire broke out in the basement of the schools performing arts center, which is under construction and fenced off from other school buildings, at 3:30 p.m. while some students and staff were still on campus.
Firefighters put the blaze out quickly. Officials do not know what caused the explosion. Classes will not be affected next week.
