Prize Will Buy Glenville More Laptops

Gina Furano and Judy Badia of the Glenville PTA recently received a $500 thank-you check as part of Main Street Connect’s Better Schools Bonanza. But with a  newly renovated school, Furano said it is hard to ask for something new. Still, she already knows where the money will go.

"We will be putting the $500 toward a computer program," she said. "The school has a mobile laptop lab that gets a lot of use. So we would like to buy additional computers that can circulate throughout the school."

Glenville principal Marc D'Amico said the children use learning programs online and the school would like to make them available to more pupils. "We really look at this as an opportunity to extend something within a brand-new building that will really make [Glenville] stand out among the other 10 schools in Greenwich."

In order to acquire another laptop lab, the school will have to raise $25,000. "Every little bit counts," said Furano. "We feel that technology is the best way to go with the children. They enjoy and get the most use out of it."

D'Amico and Furano anticipate raising the money for the new mobile computer lab by the end of the school year.
