The event included welcoming remarks from Principal Trish McGuire, a world-language greeting, a U.N. flag raising, remarks from keynote speaker U.N. Ambassador Joseph Verner Reed, remarks from former Principal and U.N. Day founder Nancy Carbone, a Parade of Nations, a community sing-along of "What The World Needs Now", a release of balloon doves, and a closing song.
Carbone told the crowd how the popular event came about.
"Our school is like the U.N. - we come from different countries, and speak different languages," she said. "But the diversity of our school is a strength, not a weakness. And our U.N. Day honors all of the differences that bring us together as one school."
