Greenwich High School will have new administrative appointments as a result of reorganization, school Superintendent Sidney Freund said Monday. The reorganization cuts two administrative positions and saves about $50,000.
I am confident that the new administrative structure and the leadership we have selected for those positions will address our objectives, Freund said in a statement. One objective is to maximize time aimed at instructional leadership, including classroom observations, teacher support and curriculum review as well as to address student discipline.
The five new house administrator positions replace the current housemaster positions and three of the program administrator positions. The new dean of students position, appointed to current Bella Housemaster Lorraine Termini, will focus on working toward a safe learning environment for students. Im particularly excited about the dean of students position and the opportunities that provides for building greater connectedness to GHS for all our students, Greenwich High School Headmaster Chris Winters said in a statement.
Five assistant dean positions were also created, one assigned to each house, to focus on student discipline. In those posts, 60 percent of their time will be devoted to teaching and 40 percent to assistant dean responsibilities. Bella Houses administrator will be Rechard Alessi, the current social studies program administrator for grades 9-12. Folsom Houses administrator will be Dana Tulotta, the current math program administrator. Sheldon Houses administrator will be Brigid Barry, the current English program administrator. Cantor Housemaster David Ross and Clark Housemaster David Walko will remain as administrators for their houses.
The administrative restructuring positions GHS to move forward in accomplishing our academic and social-emotional goals, Winters said in a statement. I have full confidence in the team we have assembled to work cohesively toward improved student achievement.
