David Olson, head of Sacred Heart Greenwich's Middle School, is to present his lecture, "The Middle School Girl: What Parents Need to Know," at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, according to organizers.
Olson, who has headed Sacred Heart's Middle School since 2005, said providing young girls with proper guidance and support at both home and school is essential.
“Preadolescence represents a dynamic time in a girl’s life, as there is a remarkable amount of growth and change that takes place during the middle school years,” he said. “While these are exciting years, they can also seem unsettling to the girls (and their parents), as they navigate significant brain development, physical growth and the onset of hormones.”
The free lecture is set to be held at the YMCA of Greenwich, 50 East Putnam Ave. It will be open to the public, according to organizers, who said that no reservations are required.
