GREENWICH, Conn. Assistant Superintendent Stacey Gross announced Tuesday that she was leaving the Greenwich Public Schools to become principal of Ridgefield High School.
While it is extremely exciting to return to a school setting, it was a very difficult decision to leave the Greenwich Public Schools, Gross said in a prepared statement. I have loved working here and collaborating with faculty, students, parents and community members. I truly value all I have learned during my tenure here."
Gross' start date in Ridgefield is July 1. She joined the Greenwich Public Schools in 1992 as a special education teacher. She was the first Housemaster for Greenwich High Schools Cantor House, serving from 2003 to 2006 and then becoming principal of Western Middle School.
She was named assistant superintendent for curriculum, instruction and professional learning in 2010. She had also been lead principal for the district, working under the guidance of the deputy superintendent to support first- second- and third-year principals. The CT Association of Schools named her the Connecticut Middle School Principal of the Year in 2010.
Deputy Superintendent Ellen Flanagan said in a release, Anyone who has had the honor of working with Dr. Gross during the past 26 years knows she is first and foremost an educator who bases every decision on what is best for students. She has been tireless in her efforts to enhance and refine professional learning in the [Greenwich Public Schools] in order to improve student outcomes.
