Greenwich Alliance For Education Plans 5K Turkey Trot

GREENWICH, Conn. -- The Greenwich Alliance for Education will host its third annual Turkey Trot at  Bruce Park on Saturday, Nov. 30, at 9:30 a.m.

Runners and walkers will be able to choose either a 5K race or a noncompetitive 1-mile run/walk. Both will begin and end at the Arch Street Teen Center at 100 Arch St. The 1-mile fun run/walk will start at 9:30 a.m. and the 5K will start at 10 a.m.

All proceeds from the Turkey Trot will directly benefit the Greenwich Alliance for Education’s programs, which aim to foster educational success for Greenwich Public School students.

Those interested can register online from the Greenwich Alliance’s website. Before race day, registration cost is $25 per adult and $10 per child age 14 and under. The first 100 registrants receive a $5 gift card from Garden Catering.

Race-day registration will take place inside the Arch Street Teen Center from 8 to 9 a.m. The cost race day will be $30 per adult and $15 per child 14 and under.

T-shirts and goody bags with offers from local merchants will be given to runners who register by Nov. 22 and to all other registrants while supplies last.

Pre-registered runners can pick up bibs, T-shirts, and goody bags on Friday, Nov. 29, at the Arch Street Teen Center from 2 to 5 p.m. 

Awards will be presented to the top three overall male and female 5K winners and the top three male and female finishers in 10 age categories, from 10-and-under to 70-plus. All 16-and-under 1-mile finishers will receive medals. Refreshments will be provided by PepsiCo and the Upper Crust Bagel Company.

Computerized timing for the 5K will be provided by Lightfoot Running Club.
