Greenwich Adds New Asst. Principal to Dundee

GREENWICH, Conn. -- Patricia A. Finnegan, a 14-year veteran of the Westport School District, is Greenwich’s newest assistant principal. She will join The International School at Dundee on Aug. 15.

Finnegan has been an elementary educator for 14 years in Westport. Greenwich Superintendent Dr. Sidney Freund cited her experience in math and Spanish language instruction.

“Ms. Finnegan impressed us with her understanding of the K-5 continuum of learning, her various leadership roles, and her experience,” Freund said in a statement Thursday. “We believe she will be an excellent match for the ISD community and look forward to welcoming her to Greenwich.”

Finnegan received a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Fordham University,  in 1976; a Master of Science in education from Bridgeport University in 1996; and a Master of Education in educational leadership from Columbia University’s Teachers College in 2009.

Finnegan began teaching in early 1997 in Westport and became a kindergarten teacher for the extended day program. She also developed a program to teach Spanish to kindergarten students. From 2000 to 2008, Finnegan oversaw curriculum for a program focused on teaching math in everyday life.
