Greenwich Academy inducted eight Class of 2011 members into its Cum Laude Society, recognizing the highest degree of academic excellence.
Membership in the society, modeled on Phi Beta Kappa, is determined by a students cumulative Upper School grade point average, the rigor of her course load and a students character. It is difficult to honor only a few [students], said head of school Molly King.
The new inductees are Yasmeen Audi, Alicia Denton, Katharine Galbraith, Grace Krasnerman, Danielle Martin, Katie McCormick and Alexandra Yorke.
During the ceremony last month, this years Cum Laude speaker, Jessica Vascellaro, a 2001 graduate celebrating the 10th anniversary of her own induction into the society, discussed the importance of female solidarity, the power of peer leadership and the value of trying new things. A Harvard College graduate, Vascellaro joined the staff of the Wall Street Journal and became chief of the papers Media and Marketing Bureau.
