Greenwich Academy Girls Send Valentines to Troops

GREENWICH, Conn. – In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, Greenwich Academy’s younger students made Valentines for troops abroad.

The school partnered with the organization Give2TheTroops, which has 17 branches in the United States, including one in Westport. The organization sends letters and care packages to deployed troops.

After making Valentines, some Lower School girls wanted to send troops a care package. They brought in gently used movies, microwave popcorn, oatmeal packs and teas. The girls learned from Give2TheTroops that their Valentines would be sent to troops in Afghanistan who had not received a care package in months.

Greenwich Academy was encouraged by an initiative organized by U.S. Rep. Jim Himes, D-4th District. He urged constituents to contribute to a national effort by sending messages of joy, love and appreciation to troops.
