GREENWICH, Conn. - Cos Cob School students celebrated World Read Aloud Day last week to promote the theme: "Imagine a world where everyone can read."
The annual event is aimed at taking action to show the world that literacy is a right that belongs to all people. The theme of the day, celebrated March 7, addressed the question, "What can we do to make a difference in global literacy?"
The school Parent Teacher Association also will be making a donation to LitWorld, an organization that supports the development of sustainable literacy practices throughout the world. According to LitWorld, 793 million people worldwide remain illiterate.
