GREENWICH, Conn. A new permanent historical exhibit embracing Brunswick Schools 109-year history is on display at the Upper School, just in time for homecoming weekend.
Our object with the Brunswick Heritage Project is to utilize three-dimensional exhibits and archival images to tell our story, Headmaster Tom Philip said in a statement.
The exhibit, located in the Upper School lobby on Maher Avenue in Greenwich, includes Awards of Distinction - silver trophies and cups recognizing student accomplishments along with graphic panels featuring Brunswick through the century. Along the halls, depictions of former coaches, headmasters, students and the school as it appeared in its original location on Maher Avenue can be seen.
After looking at the photographs, it appears that much has changed since opening our doors, said Philip. One thing that remains unchanged, however, is our steadfast commitment to do all we can to prepare our boys for life beyond Brunswick, and to always embrace our motto, Courage, Honor, Truth.'
The Brunswick Heritage Project, created by exhibition designer Yoshi Akiyama in collaboration with Laurie Musick Wright of LMW Design Inc., will be unveiled at an alumni event in the glass atrium during homecoming weekend.
The new exhibition captures the essence of Brunswick Schools past by bringing about a sense of pride for alumni and current students, said Akiyama. The custom-designed individual trophy cases and historic photographic window panels show the schools heritage. In contrast, floor to ceiling banners highlight the present with colorful photographs of current students engaged in the vibrant life of Brunswick School.
