GREENWICH, Conn. -- Oscar-wining director Ron Howard has sold his 32-acre lakefront estate along the border of Greenwich and Armonk, N.Y., for the full asking price of $27.5 million, according to a Facebook post from Fieldstone Group of Sotheby’s International Realty.

"A Fieldstone Group (Lyn Stevens, Beverley Toepke, Robin Kencel & Scott Elwell) listing under contract in just 3 weeks and for full price (we think the llamas sealed the deal)," the Facebook post said

The sale closed Thursday, Tamar Lurie, a  a senior sales associate affiliated with the Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Previews International office in Greenwich, told the Wall Street Journal. The property went into contract about two weeks after it was listed in early May, Stevens said. No information on the buyer was disclosed.

Douglas Elliman’s Frank Haymson represented the buyer. Lurie and Stevens, with her Fieldstone partners, represented Howard.

“This is a record breaking deal for Westchester County,” Haymson said. “It is the priciest home sale on record, surpassing the sale in 2012 for a home in Bedford for $21 million.”

Howard and his family put the house on the market in May after living at the 32-acre estate Conyers Farm for more than two decades. The home contains 23 rooms, including six bedrooms and five full baths. There are also four half-baths.

Interior features include seven fireplaces, a fitness room, indoor pool, home office, wine cellar and, of course, a home theater. There is also a two-bedroom guest cottage, greenhouses, an observatory and barns.

In a news release on, Howard said, “Whether we’re watching films in our theater, walking the trails throughout our property, star gazing in our observatory, or just relaxing with friends and loved ones by the lake, Cheryl and I feel we’ve accomplished the goals we set when we began work on this place. Our children are grown, so it’s time to move on, but the memories of this very special place will never leave us.”

Howard came to prominence as a child actor in "The Andy Griffith Show" in the 1960s and on "Happy Days" in the 1970s. As a director and producer, his credits include "A Beautiful Mind," for which he won the Academy Award for Best Director. Some of his other movies include "Backdraft," "Apollo 13," "Nightshift," "Splash" and "Cocoon."
