Trump On Syrians: 'I Don't Think They Should Be Moving Into Greenwich'

GREENWICH, Conn. -- Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump singled out one of Connecticut's richest towns Monday, telling a New Hampshire crowd he doesn't think Syrian refugees should be living in Greenwich, according to the Hartford Courant.

"I don't think they should be moving into Greenwich, Connecticut. I don't think they should be coming into the United States," Trump told the crowd at a campaign event on the eve of the New Hampshire primaries, according to the Hartford Courant.

Trump, whose statement came in response to a question from someone saying they were from Greenwich, once owned a home in the town, according to the Hartford Courant.

The billionaire went on to call for "safe zones" in the Middle East where people fleeing the Islamic State could find sanctuary, according to the Hartford Courant.
