According to Berry, Officers Jim Ruszkowski and Craig Zottola and their team caught up with some mischievous burglars who thought they could outrun the officers through the woods in the Byram neighborhood.

"We appreciate your dedication to duty and your service to our community," said the Greenwich Police Silver Shield Association in a Facebook post.

Ruszkowski was also recognized recently for saving the life of a man who had collapsed and gone into cardiac arrest.

The officer, and a few other team members, along with police partners at GEMS jumped into action and saved the man's life with CPR and the help of an automated external defibrillator. The man was able to walk out of the hospital a week later.

"This is why we sign up and Jimmy is a great example of what hard work and dedication will get you," said the Greenwich Police Silver Shield Association in a Facebook post.
