A Fairfield County man was busted driving his BMW more than double the legal limit through a busy intersection in Greenwich, police said.
Officers from the Greenwich Police Department stopped Stamford resident Robert Homer at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1, when his BMW 650xi convertible was clocked going more than 60 mph in a 30 mph zone at the intersection of East Putnam Avenue and Riverside Avenue in Greenwich.
Police said that during the traffic stop, Homer, 55, had glassy and red eyes, and officers detected alcohol on his breath. Homer proceeded to fail multiple Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and was arrested.
Homer was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and cited for speeding. He posted $250 bond and is due back in Stamford Superior Court on Sept. 17 to answer the charge.
