Report: Greenwich Man Charged With Beating Wife Seeks Psychiatric Help

GREENWICH, Conn. -- Michael DeMaio, the Greenwich man charged with attempted murder of his wife with a baseball bat, is seeking a transfer to Garner Correctional Institute in Newtown on psychiatric grounds, according to a "Greenwich Time" report.

DeMaio was charged with criminal attempted murder and first-degree assault of his wife, nutritionist Diane DeMaio, police said.

The couple had a dispute in their home at 261 Round Hill Road, which escalated to the point where Demaio assaulted his wife, according to the police statement.

She remains in critical condition at Stamford Hospital, police said.
