Greenwich Town Parks employees were clearing debris from a wooded section in the southwest area of the park around 9:12 a.m. Wednesday when they discovered what appeared to be human remains, police said.
Greenwich Police officers responded to the scene and closed off the area, and confirmed that the remains were of human origin, police said. A representative from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner responded to the area and determined that the remains were indeed human.
The OCME representative said that the remains were not from a recent event, police said.
Police said that they are currently conducting a death investigation into the remains. Connecticut State Police were also on the scene.
Any information that anyone has about the remains should be forwarded to the police anonymous tip line at 1-800372-1176 or at tips@greenwichct.org.
Police said nothing further will be released pending the OCME results.
