As part of the five-day program, the kids experienced a K-9 demonstration, got up-close looks at firefighting and tactical gear, and got to ride along on a police boat, among other experiences.
"It was by all accounts a great success," the department noted in a Facebook post. "Kids, parents and staff all enjoyed the week and hopefully created some positive and lasting memories. The youths learned a lot about the police officers in their community and we all made some new friends."
The department also thanked the Emily Catherine Fedorko Foundation for donating life vests the kids wore during the marine ride-along.
