Around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, an ATM service technician was loading the exterior ATM of the Chase Bank located at the intersection of W. Putnam Avenue and Dearfield Drive. The technician had the cabinet open when a suspect suddenly appeared from behind the service technician's work van brandishing a pistol, police said.
The victim fled on foot and was unhurt. The victim contacted the police. Upon arrival of the officers, the suspect was gone with a yet to be determined amount of cash from the ATM, police said.
The victim describes the suspect as a white male approximately 6 feet tall and heavyset.
The suspect was wearing a bright (possibly yellow) hoodie sweatshirt and dark pants. The suspect had the hood drawn tightly across his face obscuring his features.
