Man Charged With Attempted Car Theft In Greenwich

GREENWICH, Conn. — A 40-year-old Trumbull man was arrested Saturday in Greenwich after he was allegedly caught on video trying to steal a car from the valet parking area at Greenwich Hospital.

Police responded to the Greenwich Hospital Emergency Department at about midnight on a reported attempted theft of a white Mitsubishi. Two suspects reportedly had left the area on foot and were being followed by hospital security.

Officers located the two at the intersection of East Putnam Avenue and Sherwood Place. Based on witness statements and video footage, police arrested Christopher Shakespeare, of 9211 Avalon Gates, on a charge of second-degree larceny, a felony.   

Shakespeare was released on $5,000 bond and is due in court July 2.
