The man was arrested in Greenwich on Friday, May 27 when he allegedly traveled to the town to have sex with a girl whom he believed was 14, when in fact it was a police officer.

The Greenwich Police Department, in partnership with the FBI, arrested Tong-Hyon Suh, age 45, of the Bronx, after he befriended the girl in an online chat room, said the Greenwich Police.

The 14-old-old was really a Greenwich detective investigating child predators who use online platforms to lure and victimize children, the department said.

Over the course of several weeks, Suh began to steer the conversations to ones that were sexually explicit in nature. It is further alleged that Suh also began describing sex acts that he wanted to perform on the fourteen-year-old girl in real life, police said.

The investigation culminated with Suh making plans to meet with the girl in person at a specific location within the town of Greenwich to carry out these sexual acts, the department said.

On Friday, Suh traveled to Greenwich with the intent of having sexual contact with the girl. He was arrested without incident when he arrived at the pre-arranged location in Greenwich and was charged with the following:

  • Illegal sexual contact with a victim under the age of 16
  • Criminal attempt at employing a minor in an obscene performance
  • Criminal attempt at sexual assault
  • Criminal attempt at enticing a minor by computer

"The Greenwich Police continues its efforts to protect vulnerable members of our community from child predators," the department said. "We urge parents to remain vigilant and monitor their children’s online activity and who they engage with through phone, text, email, and social media."

The investigation is ongoing. If you believe that you or someone you know is a victim of online child sexual exploitation, call the FBI at 800-843-5678.
