GREENWICH, Conn. – An 80-year-old Greenwich woman was hospitalized Thursday morning after being involved in an accident with a tractor-trailer truck on Interstate 95, police said.
The woman was heading south on the highway when she veered off the road between Exits 3 and 2 at about 8:45 a.m., according to a Connecticut State Police report. Her SUV rear-ended a tractor-trailer parked in the shoulder, totaling her car and pushing the truck into the center lane, police said.
The SUV’s driver suffered multiple cuts and bruises to her face, arms and hands, and was taken to Westchester Medical Center for treatment.
The owner of the truck told state police at the scene that he was asleep in the sleeper berth of his cab at the time, and did not report any injuries.
The accident closed the right and center lanes of the highway briefly while emergency crews dealt with the scene and was cleared by 11:30 a.m., according to the police report. The case was still under investigation, State Police say.
