Greenwich Seeks Applicants For Fall Citizens' Police Academy

The program gives residents a “first-hand overview” of the department’s law-enforcement and community-related functions, police said.

Topics of instruction include introduction to policing, use of force, scams and fraud, patrol operations, crime prevention, motor vehicle stops, DUI stops, narcotics investigations, special response unit and domestic violence investigations.

The seven-week program starts Monday, Sept. 21.

Applications are available at the department’s front desk, Greenwich Town Hall’s reception desk via download from the town’s website.

Completed applications and a photocopy of the applicant’s driver's license must be received at the Police Department’s Community Impact Section no later than Wednesday, Sept. 16.

Police said a criminal history background check will be performed on all applicants. Accepted recruits will be contacted during the week of Sept. 7.

Classes will be at the Greenwich Police Department. Classes are from 6:30-9 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. A single Saturday class will from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 10.

Graduation is Wednesday, Nov. 4.

The department is at 11 Bruce Place. Town Hall is at 101 Field Point Road.
