Police responded to Edgewood Avenue on Monday after a truck hit a utility pole and fled the scene, causing a power outage in the area. A truck matching the description was spotted shortly after turning onto Arch Street from Railroad Avenue, and was stopped. Police said that upon interviewing the driver, identified as 35-year-old Eliezer Perez-Roman of Stamford, officers could detect the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle.
Upon searching the truck, police said they found several 10 mg tablets of Methadone, a controlled substance, in an unlabeled prescription bottle. Perez-Roman was arrested and charged with illegal possession, failure to keep drugs in the original container, and violation of the hours of operation of motor vehicles with a commercial registration. He was held on a $1,000 bond.
