Ashley Bagnati turned herself into police on Monday after learning of a warrant.

According to the warrant, a man who is dating Ashley's mother was waiting for Bagnati and her son around 8:20 a.m. on March 29 to drive them somewhere. He entered the apartment at 1465 East Putnam Ave., after they didn't come out and discovered the boy crying in front of the TV and Bagnati no where in sight, police said. He rushed upstairs and found her unresponsive with difficulty breathing, according to police. He and Bagnati's mother told police that she had an extensive drug history.

When first responders arrived they found Bagnati being comforted by the acquaintance, conscious and semi-alert, police said.

Police found a syringe near Bagnati, who told them she had been clean but after finding an old loaded syringe in her belongings she decided to shoot up, according to police. The warrant said the boy appeared to be healthy and well cared for and that the residence posed no dangers to the child.

The Department of Children and Families was notified.

She was released on a promise to appear in court on Oct. 11.
