"Officer Greco's actions reflect great credit upon himself and the department,'' Heavey said.
In August, Greco was returning to headquarters after completing a double shift. Officer Greco observed a speeding vehicle on North Street. He stopped the vehicle, and upon his approach to the vehicle, the operator suddenly sped off. Greco ran back to his cruiser and attempted to stop the suspect for a second time.
The suspect refused to pull over, traveling south until the pursuit ended with a collision on Mason Street. Two of the vehicle's occupants fled the scene with Officer Greco in close foot pursuit. Officer Greco captured one; the second suspect was apprehended by another officer, and a third suspect was arrested within the vehicle. The suspects had just committed a burglary in town and are associates of a prolific burglary ring, according to a police statement.
