The supermarket will donate 25 percent of its proceeds from the hours between 4 and 11 p.m. Wednesday to the new memorial. The mobile memorial will consist of a custom painted motorcycle that was received in 2011 from the support group, America's 9/11 Ride.
"Thank you for helping The Greenwich Police Department to Never Forget the heroism and the sacrifices made by Americans on Sept. 11, 2001," Greenwich Police Department representatives wrote in a news release. "During the annual 911 Ride motorcyclists travel between The World Trade Center, The Pentagon and Shanksville, Pa. to honor America’s First Responders. Our Department was awarded a new Police Motorcycle during the 2011 911 ride and we plan to paint, decorate and display our new motorcycle as a tribute to the many heroes that fell that day. We sincerely appreciate yours and Fairway Market’s support of that effort."
