Police while conducting a DUI Gran Enforcement on Saturday, Aug. 17 stopped a vehicle at 1800 East Putnam Ave. for traveling unreasonably fast, according to Greenwich Police.
When the car came to a stop and the driver side window was opened, a thick cloud of smoke reportedly came out the window with the suspected odor of burnt marijuana, police said.
One of the five passengers was identified by their New York State ID card as Jose M. Cruz, according to police.
A vehicle search reportedly revealed several types of narcotics including marijuana and bottle of codeine that were not medically prescribed to Cruz, said Greenwich Police.
Cruz was also holding a paper cut as he exited the vehicle that reportedly had a bright green substance in it suspected of being a mixed drink of soda and codeine cough syrup, according to police.
Cruz was arrested and charged with possession of narcotics, said police.
He was unable to post a bond of $500 and given a court appearance date of Tuesday, Sept. 3, according to police.
The driver of the vehicle was identified by his New York State license as Leonel Cuevas, said police.
Cuevas' speech was reportedly very slurred while speaking with the officers and had very delayed responses to officers questions, according to Greenwich Police.
A vehicle search reportedly revealed several types of narcotics including marijuana and bottle of codeine that were not medically prescribed to Cuevas, said Greenwich Police.
Cuevas was also holding a paper cut as he exited the vehicle that reportedly had a bright green substance in it suspected of being a mixed drink of soda and codeine cough syrup, according to police.
State field sobriety tests were administered which Cuevas reportedly failed and he was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, traveling unreasonably fast, and possession of narcotics, police said.
One of the passengers in the vehicle was identified by his New York ID card as Joel Felix Mora, according to police.
A vehicle search reportedly revealed several types of narcotics including marijuana and bottles of codeine that were not medically prescribed to Mora, police said.
He was reportedly holding a paper cup as he exited the vehicle that had a bright green substance in it suspected of being a mixed drink of soda and codeine cough syrup, according to police.
Mora was arrested and charged with possession of narcotics and possession of marijuana less than a half-ounce, police said.
He was able to post the $500 bond and given a court date of Tuesday, Sept. 3 in Stamford Superior Court, according to police.
One of the passengers in the vehicle was identified by their New York ID card as Leudy Reyes, said police.
While searching the vehicle Reyes reportedly related that the backpack in it was his, according to Greenwich Police.
Officers reportedly found suspected marijuana in individual bags in the backpack, Promethazine cough syrup not medically prescribed to Reyes, and Oxycodone pills that were not prescribed to Reyes said police.
Reyes was also reportedly holding a paper coffee cup as he exited the vehicle that had a bright green substance within it suspected of being a mixed drink of soda and codeine cough syrup, according to Greenwich Police.
Reyes was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of narcotics
- Possession of narcotics with intent to sell
- Possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell
- Operating a drug factory
One of the passengers in the vehicle was identified by their New York State ID cards as Fredderin Antonio Santos-Pena, according to Greenwich Police.
A search of the vehicle revealed several types of narcotics including marijuana and bottles of codeine that were not medically prescribed to Santos-Pena said police.
Santos-Pena reportedly was holding a paper coffee cup as he exited the vehicle which was suspected of being a mixed drink of soda and codeine cough syrup, according to police.
Santos-Pena was arrested and charged with possession of narcotics, police said.
Santos-Pena was unable to post his $500 bond and was issued a Stamford Superior Court date of Tuesday, Sept. 3, according to Greenwich Police.
