Burglary Suspect Arrested Outside Greenwich Home

GREENWICH, Conn. — A burglary suspect jumped through and broke a window of a Shelter Driver home after being ordered to stop at gunpoint, Greenwich police said.

Mark B. Johnson, 19, of Cat Rock Road in Greenwich, was arrested early Sunday morning after he was subdued by police outside the home, Lt. Kraig Gray said.

"Cash and numerous pieces of jewelry were recovered from Johnson's person," the police report said.

Several officers arrived at the home after the burglar alarm went off shortly around 3 a.m., Sunday. Police found a back door open and a person inside, Kray said.

The person was ordered to stop at gunpoint but ran away through the house, police said. The person then jumped through the window and attempted to run away but was wrestled to the ground by police, Kray said.

A neighbor told police the house next door was unoccupied. That house also had been ransacked, Kray said.

Johnson was charged with two counts of first-degree burglary, two counts of third-degree larceny, two counts of first-degree criminal mischief and interfering with an officer. He was held on $50,000 bond.
