Bond Reduced For Greenwich Man Charged With Trying To Kill Wife

GREENWICH, Conn. -- Bond was reduced Monday for a Greenwich man charged with the attempted murder of his wife so he can be transferred to a correctional facility that can better address his medical needs, according to the Stamford Advocate. 

Bond was reduced on Michael DeMaio after he suffered a minor stroke. The Greenwich man is charged with trying to kill his wife.

Michael DeMaio, 55, is charged with beating his wife with a baseball bat in September, police said. He is held on bond awaiting trial. 

After he suffered a minor stroke last month, DeMaio's bond was reduced from $1 million to $490,000, the Stamford Advocate reported.

With the reduction in bond, DeMaio's attorney hopes he can be transferred to a prison with appropriate medical facilities, according to the Stamford Advocate.
