A local resident made a gruesome discovery, finding a body that had washed ashore.
Police received notification of the body around 8:40 a.m. Friday when the Westport resident contacted police headquarters to report the body which had washed up on the shore of Harbor Road in Saugatuck Shores, said Westport Police Lt. Jillian Cabana.
Police responded to the area and located a deceased male at the water line. The male, whose body has been turned over to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, has not been identified at this time, she added.
The Westport Detective Bureau is currently investigating, but foul play is not suspected.
Harbor Road, which had been closed, is now open to all traffic.
