Greenwich Police received a call in regards to an unresponsive person at a Cos Cob residence on October 27, 2017. Police arrived and found a deceased male in one of the home’s bathrooms.
Initial on-scene investigations led to the belief that the death was caused by a narcotics overdose. The Connecticut Office of the Chief Medical Examiner later confirmed that the victim died from an overdose of heroin.
Investigators from the Narcotics section were able to retrieve information that led to the identification of the suspect. Police obtained an arrest warrant from Stamford Superior Court charging Henderison Vargas of Brooklyn with first-degree manslaughter.
Vargas was arrested Thursday, Feb. 7 when an NYPD Fugitive Task Force worked alongside members of the Brooklyn North Narcotics Unit to carry out the warrant. Vargas was extradited from NYPD custody to Greenwich Police on Wednesday, Feb. 20 and was arraigned at Stamford Superior Court on Thursday, Feb. 21.
