Peter Wlasuk, 85, Former Greenwich Caretaker

GREENWICH, Conn. – Peter Edward Wlasuk, a former Greenwich caretaker, died June 29 at home in Texas. He was 85.

A memorial service will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at Honan Funeral Home in Newtown, Conn. A burial ceremony for Wlasuk and his wife, Mary Teresa, will immediately follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Newtown. 

Wlasuk was born May 17, 1927, in Port Chester, N.Y., to Anna Fedorcek and Frank Wlasuk.

He attended school in Greenwich and married Mary Teresa Lardner on Nov. 17, 1951. They raised six children in Port Chester before moving to Newtown in 1967. 

After serving in Germany with the U.S. Army, Wlasuk worked for Sorensen in Norwalk for nearly 20 years. He and his wife also worked as caretakers for several Greenwich estates in Greenwich before retiring to Southbury. 

Wlasuk also enjoyed spending time with his wife as well as his children, taking them on many weekend outings when they were young and coaching Little League baseball for his sons' teams in Newtown. He loved sports, especially golf, and was a scratch golfer for most of his life. He caddied at Blind Brook Country Club for more than 65 years. 

He is survived by four daughters, Teresa (Charles) Kuhn, Patricia (John) Commander, Kathleen Wlasuk and Ann (David) Cain; two sons, Michael (Aileen) Wlasuk and Peter (Antoinette) Wlasuk; a sister-in-law, Patricia Rosa; a brother-in-law, Thomas (Pat) Lardner; 12 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Wlasuk was predeceased by his wife, Mary Teresa; three brothers, Alexander, Nickolas and John; and a sister, Mary.
