Petruso was born in the Bronx, N.Y. to the late Dominic and Angela Petruso. After serving in the Army and rising to the rank of sergeant, he worked as an officer for the Greenwich Police Department from September of 1970 until his retirement in February, 1998.
He received numerous departmental and SSA commendations such as the Ribbon of Commendation, as well as several letters of appreciation.
Petruso is survived by his wife Barbara Petruso, daughter Danielle, son Christopher and his wife Roseann and one grandson.
Petruso's wake will be held Wednesday, April 13 at the Green Funeral Home at 57 Main St. in Danbury from 5 to 8 p.m.
Funeral service will take place Thursday, April 14 at 11 a.m. with burial to follow at Mount View Cemetery on Route 37 in New Fairfield.
