GREENWICH, Conn. - Jane Talar Richter, a lifelong resident of Greenwich, died May 26. She was 96.
Richter was born July 27, 1916, in Port Chester, N.Y., daughter of John and Amalia (Trabka) Talar. She attended Greenwich public schools and was a graduate of Greenwich High School and a graduate of Short's Secretarial School. She was employed by the U.S. Postal service for 35 years before retiring in 1972. She was a member and past president of Joseph Pilsudski Society of Greenwich; a member of Greenwich Retirees Eating & Tarrying Society; Greenwich American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), Chapter #1210; Church Women United and American Workers Union.
Richter is survived by daughter, Joanne (Bosilevas) Locke of Nevada; and a niece and a nephew. She was predeceased by her parents; sister, Helen A. Talar; and brother, Charles J. Talar, Sr.
Calling hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 31 at the Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 31 Arch St., Greenwich. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, June 1 at St. Mary's Church, 178 Greenwich Ave., Greenwich. Interment will be at St. Mary Cemetery, North St, Greenwich.
