GREENWICH, Conn. Ian Howard Braxton, a native of Greenwich, died Sept. 16 of a heart attack. He was 51.
Born in Greenwich, he was the son of Dolores C. Braxton and the late James R. Braxton. He attended Julian Curtiss School, Greenwich Country Day School and Greenwich High School, where he was known as "Big Bird" on the wrestling team.
After high school, Braxton enjoyed crewing for yacht races and worked on oil rigs in Oklahoma. He moved back to Connecticut in the late 1980s and spent many summer days on his boat at Shell Island.
Braxton settled into a career in the security and alarm system industry, most recently as the operations manager for Connecticut, upstate New York and Vermont at Protection 1 in Milford, Conn.
He is survived by two children, Sean and Heather Braxton; his mother, Dolores; two sisters, Jocelyn Braxton Armstrong, of Westport, and Meredith Braxton, of Greenwich; a brother, James Braxton, of Rowayton; four nephews and a niece.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Christ Church in Greenwich. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to ASCPA.
