GREENWICH, Conn. Frederick George Neuberth Jr, a longtime Greenwich and Riverside resident, died June 28 at Stamford Hospital after a brief illness. He was 98.
Born April 3, 1914, in Newark, N.J., he was the son of Frederick George and Louise Trautvetter Neuberth. He was raised in Mount Vernon, N.Y., and later in White Plains, N.Y. Neuberth graduated from Mount Hermon School in Gill, Mass., in 1935 and attended Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Stationed in San Francisco, Calif., and Alaska, he also flew missions to Russia. After the war, Neuberth joined Trans World Airlines and worked in Washington, D.C., and New York.
Neuberth married Myra Jeanne Huberth of Scarsdale, N.Y., on Nov. 15, 1947. They lived in Tuckahoe, N.Y., and later Scarsdale before moving to Riverside in 1952.
In 1950, he began a career in radio and television advertising in New York City with Avery Knodle. He worked at John Blair Advertising before serving as head of the Radio Advertising Bureau.
Neuberth's third career was with Union Trust Co. in Greenwich. Neuberth was active at Christ Church when he lived in Greenwich. He served on the vestry and as junior warden.
He is survived by two sons, Jeffrey G. Neuberth, of Riverside, and Lee A. Neuberth, of Old Greenwich; two daughters-in-law, Paige and Angel; and four grandchildren. His wife died in 2004.
A memorial celebration will be held at 11 a.m. on July 12 at Edgehill Senior Living Community in Stamford. Leo P. Gallagher and Son Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
