Edward A. Carey, 90, Of Greenwich, Electronic Designer For IBM

GREENWICH, Conn. - Edward A. Carey of Greenwich died May 8. He was 90.

Carey was born April 24, 1923, to Edward and Mary Carey of New Rochelle, N.Y. He was a graduate of New Rochelle High School. He served in the U.S. Army with the 102nd Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron during WWII. Upon completion of his service, he attended the Pratt Institute of New York.

Carey began his career as an electronic designer for IBM where he was employed for 35 years. He was a member of St. Timothy’s Chapel in Greenwich and The Banksville Independent Fire Department.

Carey is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Pamela Thompson (Bill) of Glen Burnie, Md., William Guy (Ginny) of New City, N.Y., Edward Carey (Donna) of Ballston Lake, N.Y. and Kelli Piro (Charlie) of Cos Cob; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Dorothy Carey, Jean Carey; and brother, Walter Carey.

There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 18 at St. Timothy’s Chapel, 1034 North St., Greenwich. Interment will follow the service in Middle Patent Rural Cemetery in Bedford, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carey’s memory to The Banksville Independent Fire Department, 33 Bedford-Banksville Road, Bedford, NY 10506.
