Dennis Murphy, 80, Greenwich Korean War Veteran

GREENWICH, Conn. – Dennis T. Murphy Sr. of Greenwich died Sept. 14. He was 80. 

Born April 11, 1932, he was a son of Philip and Margaret Murphy. He served in the Army during the Korean War. After his military service, Murphy worked for Doran Brothers Moving Co. He was an avid brass and coin collector. 

Murphy is survived by two daughters, Denise (Kevin) Murphy and Susan (Stephan) Genovese; three sisters, Kathleen Murphy, Esther Burns and Josephine Savona; a brother, Philip Murphy; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

His wife, Angelina, died in 2002. He also was predeceased by a son, Dennis Murphy Jr.; three sisters, Patricia Smith, Margaret McGlynn and Mary Murphy; and a brother, Daniel Murphy. 

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday morning at St. Roch Church in Greenwich. Castiglione Funeral Home handled arrangements.
