David Mamo, 66, Of Greenwich

GREENWICH, Conn. - David Mamo of Greenwich died Jan. 12. He was 66.

Mamo was born Jan. 3, 1948, to Riccardo Mamo and Maria Tchou in Turin, Italy. He spent his childhood in Rome and Milan and graduated from the University of Pisa and the elite Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa. He then won a Fulbright Fellowship to study at Columbia University in New York,, where he completed all course work for a doctorate in political science. He enrolled in NYU's Stern School of Business, where he received an MBA in 1980.

He worked in commercial lending for more than 30 years for several American and European banks in New York and Chicago as well as in Milan, Italy; Shanghai, China; and Mumbai, India.

Mamo is survived by his wife, Laurie Upson Mamo; children, Andrew of Cambridge, Mass., Alexandra of Tokyo, Japan, and Elizabeth, who lives outside of Hong Kong; two brothers and their wives; and three nephews in Milan.

Mamo was interred in the Memorial Garden at Christ Church in Greenwich. A memorial service will also be held in Milan.
