Audrey Hamilton, 98, Greenwich Interior Designer

GREENWICH, Conn. – Audrey Dennis Hamilton, a former interior designer, died Nov. 30 at her home in Greenwich surrounded by her family. She was 98.

She was born Aug. 24, 1914, in Hagerman, Idaho, to Arthur and Nettie Dennis. She married Joseph Young Hamilton in 1941 and moved to Salt Lake City, where she and her husband raised their family.

After the death of her husband in 1969, Hamilton lived in Boise, Idaho, and Greenwich. She remodeled five of her homes in her later years and was an interior designer. She worked for Greenwich Hardware and later Feinsod Hardware in Old Greenwich, where she managed the wallpaper studio until the age of 84.

She is survived by a daughter, Judy Hamilton Schedler, of Greenwich; two brothers, Arlin C. (Tess) Dennis and Harry A. Dennis (Lena), both of Boise; and three grandsons and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Hamilton was predeceased by her parents; two brothers, Elvin J. Dennis and Dehryl A. Dennis; and an infant son, Joseph Scott Hamilton. 

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Stanwich Congregational Church in Greenwich. Leo P. Gallagher and Son Funeral Home in Greenwich is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Stanwich Church or Masonicare Hospice of Wallingford.
