Woman Critically Injured in Greenwich Crash

GREENWICH, Conn. – An elderly woman was critically injured early Monday afternoon when her car collided with a 10-wheel dump truck on North Street. The road was closed between Clapboard Ridge and Doubling roads.

The woman was driving a four-door Lexus sedan south on North Street and the dump truck was traveling in the opposite direction, police said. The driver of the dump truck was not injured in the crash.

The woman was trapped in her car and had to be extricated by members of the Greenwich Fire Department. Greenwich Emergency Medical Services provided advanced life support on the way to Greenwich Hospital.

The roadway remained closed while officers investigated. It was expected to reopen by the evening rush hour.
