Valentines Headed to Fairfield County Veterans

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – U.S. Rep. Jim Himes is collecting Valentine's Day cards to deliver to local veterans for his third annual “Valentines for Vets” program.

Valentines made by children across the 4th District will be delivered to the local Veterans Administration hospital, Homes for the Brave in Bridgeport and other service organizations. Himes traditionally visits a participating school to make cards with students, and veterans accompany him to share stories about their service.

“I have seen how appreciative veterans are when someone sincerely thanks them for their service, and I know they are incredibly grateful for the many beautiful cards they receive,” Himes said. “This is a great chance for kids to learn about the sacrifice our men and women in uniform make while also brightening someone’s day.”

Anyone who would like to participate in the Valentines for Vets program should call Peter Yazbak in Himes’s Bridgeport office at (806) 453-0028. Valentines may also be mailed to or dropped off at either of Himes’s district offices by 5 p.m. Friday.

The Bridgeport office is located at 211 State St., 2nd floor, Bridgeport, CT 06604. The Stamford office is located at 888 Washington Blvd., 10th floor, Stamford, CT 06901.
