Underage thieves picked the wrong car to break into Wednesday night. When a Greenwich police officer woke to find someone breaking into his car, he told his wife to call 911 and went outside in his boxer shorts to confront the thief. The 17-year-old breaking into his car resisted when the officer identified himself and was taken to the ground by the officer. When Greenwich officers arrived, they nabbed a second teen who had fled the scene. The teens were charged with burglary in the third degree, conspiracy to commit burglary, interfering with an officer and possession of alcohol by a minor. Both teens are residents of Greenwich.

A Pennsylvania man was arrested Wednesday night on charges of possession of marijuana under four ounces, interfering with an officer, forgery and possession of burglary tools. Jason C. Irizarry, 26, of Tobyhanna, Pa., was questioned by officers who thought he was acting suspiciously near Greenwich Plaza underground parking garage, which has been the location of numerous car thefts. He identified himself as Pedro Ortiz Jr. using an ID that was later found to be forged. Irizarry had a non-extraditable Pennsylvania warrant for failure to appear in court on an auto theft charge. Irizarry was found to be in possession of marijuana as well as a large screwdriver. He is being held on $50,000 bond and will appear in court Sept. 15.
