Two New Officers Join Greenwich Force

Greenwich Police have two new recruits in Daniel J. Bucci and Christopher M. Sanborn, who were sworn in at Town Hall on Monday.

Bucci, a resident of Shelton, holds a degree in psychology from the University of Central Florida. He worked as an instructional aide in Trumbull, where he worked with students ages 11-19 who have been diagnosed with emotional, behavioral and developmental disabilities. Bucci is certified in physical and psychological management training as well as CPR and AED.

“It’s an arduous process no matter where you want to be an officer. But the time it takes is indicative of the kind of work you’re trying to get into,” said Bucci. “Greenwich is a town that stands for what Connecticut really is. Having been born and raised in Connecticut it embodies everything I feel as a citizen of this state.” Bucci said he hopes to eventually work in criminal investigations.  

Sanborn, of Hopkinton, Mass., holds a degree in criminal justice from Westfield State College and worked as a painter. He previously worked for the UMass Amherst Police Department as a police cadet, where he helped students in need and assisted other cadets and officers. “The experience was great and I loved it,” Sanborn said after the swearing-in ceremony. “I’ve heard [Greenwich] is a great town to work in, so it really drew my attention.” He said he hopes to eventually become a detective.  

Both men will be required to complete an 18-month probationary period starting Monday.
