Two Greenwich Officers Make Detective

Police Officers John J. King and James T. Manning, both natives of Greenwich, were recently promoted to the rank of detective and assigned to the newly formed Special Victims Section.

King has been with the department for 10 years. While in patrol, King was a field training officer and served as a member of the Special Response Unit. Most recently, he was an accident car investigator. Manning has been with the department for more than nine years. Manning was formerly an accident car investigator and a community impact officer.

King and Manning were selected after receiving recommendations from department supervisors and completing a competitive review board. After a six-month probationary period during which the section sergeant and division commander evaluated their performances, Chief David Ridberg swore them in as detectives on Oct. 6.
