Trio Arrested With Drugs Near School

Three men were arrested on charges of drug possession with intent to sell last week near the Hamilton Avenue School. During a motor vehicle stop, Scott Iain Lawson, 21, of 26 Putnam Green in Greenwich told police he drove his passenger to make a drug delivery near the school. As he was being removed from the car he began flailing violently. He was restrained and handcuffed after he refused to stop resisting. Police said Lawson had a loaded handgun and a second loaded magazine. He had a permit for the weapon, and both the pistol and permit were seized. Lawson was charged with conspiracy to possess narcotics, conspiracy to possess narcotics with intent to sell, conspiracy to possess narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school, and interfering with an officer. He was unable to post $10,000 bond and is due in court Nov. 29. Titus Snyder, 21, of 405 W. Main St., Stamford, was arrested on the same charges as Lawson after admitting to police that he had 66 tablets of oxycontin. Snyder was being held on  $25,000 bond and is due in court on Nov. 29. Calvin Haughton, 46, of 35 Elizabeth Ann Drive, New Haven,  was also arrested on five separate narcotics conspiracy charges. His bond was set at $10,000 and he is also due in court Nov. 29.

? A Stamford man was arrested on Railroad Avenue  in Greenwich Friday on charges of violating a protective order and breach of peace after contacting his ex-girlfriend. The victim said she was getting off the train in Greenwich when the man approached her, grabbed her arm and begged her to talk to him. He also called her earlier that day to tell her he was sorry.  He turned himself in and posted a $1,000 bond. He was due in court the same day.

? Jeffrey Thomas Nelson of 88 Greenwich Ave. was arrested last week on DWI charges after police saw him driving without having his headlights turned on. Nelson showed signs of intoxication and failed field sobriety tests. Police said he was belligerent and uncooperative. In addition to DWI charges, Nelson was arrested for failure to display headlights, failure to carry insurance identification card and failure to carry a driver's license. He was being held on $250 bond and is due in court on Nov. 30.
