GREENWICH, Conn. UPDATE: The Perrot Library reports that the electrical repairs have been completed and that they are now open.
Original article:
The Perrot Library was closed to the public Wednesday due to a transformer fire on South Beach Avenue, Director Kevin McCarthy said.
"The fire department closed off the roads around the library as a precaution. Safety is paramount, but don't worry, the library is not on fire," McCarthy said.
The library was evacuated around 11:30 a.m. while crews worked to put out the fire. McCarthy said he had no idea when the Library would reopen.
"We have to wait for CL&P to do whatever they need to do. We'll get word from the Fire Department and then we'll be back in business."
