Tesei Leads in Campaign Fundraising in Greenwich

GREENWICH, Conn. — Republican First Selectman Peter Tesei is ahead of Democratic candidate John Blankley in campaign financing, raking in nearly $30,000 from supporters, according to campaign finance reports in the town clerk’s office.

Tesei announced his bid for re-election as first selectman May 25. In the November election, Tesei will face off against Blankley, the Democratic Town Committee treasurer, who announced his candidacy for first selectman April 25. He won the party’s official nomination during the Democratic Town Committee convention May 11.

According to the reports, from April 1 to June 30, Tesei’s balance totaled of $29,793.33. Those contributing $1,000 each to Tesei’s campaign included Alan Gilbert, Marlene Gilbert, Sandra Culbert, state Rep. Livvy Floren, Rebecca Breed and Richard Koppelmar of Miller Motorcars.

The balance of Blankley’s campaign fundraising totaled $22,140, from May 26 to June 30. Those contributing $1,000 to Blankley’s campaign included Adriana Ospina, Vera Blankley, Jim Hoffman, Michael Egmont, Kristin Egmont, Molly Baily Dillon and John Dillon. U.S. Rep. Jim Himes also donated $500.

Tesei’s campaign reported $1,431.67 in expenses for the reporting period, while Blankley’s campaign reported $725 in expenses.  

Incumbent Selectman Drew Marzullo raised $16,048.84 in the reporting period.
